Happy Easter to my family and everyone!
Recently, I stopped into a proprietor in Superior Wisconsin to discuss the effects of being a proprietor, congratulate them on their successes and to consider the statements made by Kim at the UWS Multi-cultural meeting in 2017, that is of the need for more black female proprietors in Superior. I stated to this business manager how important or strongly I felt about everyone's position, thus I wrote to the City Clerk's office regarding the permitting of businesses and this publicly spoken statement by Kim, I believe her business is with Chum of Duluth, but the statement was made in front of Henry Banks of the 'People of Color' program on WPR, and in front of Chief Nick Alexander of the Superior Police department.
What I took away from this conversation was two things, a warm feeling of acceptance, that I was welcome in their shop to make purchases - a huge issue with this discussion, as I have stated to law enforcement, back when I was at Pedro luggage in St. Paul, Minnesota shopping for luggage to go on a business trip with my co-workers to Denver Colorado, one of the customer service people shouted at me across the shop, and stated "You can't be in here!" I was the only person in the store, and realized they were talking to me. I had never heard that before in my entire life, not even as a teenager.
Another take away from this meeting. I was introduced to their beautiful, fluffy, white, with pink ears Angora bunny they have as a support function in their shop.
I could not believe it when they directed me to this bunny and picked it up for me to pet. It was funny to me because it looked just like a pair of 'bunny slippers' my husband and children bought for me one year and gave me as a Christmas present.
The bunny is beautiful and so was my conversation with these business managers of the Goodielbeads I wish the proprietors best of luck in their working together to build a stronger community and businesses that support their community.
I came here to Superior Wisconsin deciding to come here rather than Owensboro Kentucky, getting permission from John Menards store in Superior WI. With them fully aware of my intent to finish my education aspirations and to start a Lavender growing business. Someone sold me and my idea and beat me to the punch, but I am still endeavoring. A reminder of my intent was that Angora bunny.
Thank you Goodielbeads!
