I remember when my mother insisted that the May Day Baskets must be made and distributed. We did not make many, just a few for certain persons of my young friend persuasion.
Of course I considered at the writing of this post, the day is mostly over. It was as has been for days, such a deary, rainy day, cold still. The flowers delivered might wilt quickly for the chill, but never-the-less, it is the day to give a bit of cheer to the neighbor near or far if the journey is reasonable for the sojourner.
What else does one usually have the opportunity to do, if it was a sunny spring day and one was invited to a party, or maybe at school if the teacher deemed an activity was these days, safe and inviting to all, why one would dance around the Maypole.
My mother made Petite Fours in her day. What a glorious person to have known while she knew her station, she created of her own for my and my siblings moments to recall in later years.
Then we see, this occurs all over the world, embracing the gifts of spring be of good nature also of good spirit. Joining together let us rejoice and celebrate.
